The annual Scarecrows on Parade contest will be held on Sept. 21.

(Village of Palatine)

PALATINE, IL — The Beautification Commission will be hosting its 12th Annual Scarecrows on Parade contest as part of the Rotary Club's Oktoberfest Festival. Home Depot in Palatine has provided only 20 scarecrow skeletons, so those wishing to take part in the contest should be sure to pick one up soon, village officials said.

Any Palatine business, non-profit organization, school or sports group, homeowner's association, family, or faith or civic group is allowed to participate, according to information posted on the village of Palatine Facebook page.

This year there will be two judging categories: the Youth Category for groups with members 17 years old and younger, and the Adult Category for groups 18 and older. Prizes will be awarded in each category.
