The Palatine village council approved a special use permit Tuesday for the indoor hockey training facility project, the Daily Herald said.

PALATINE, IL — Windy City Storm is opening a new private training facility in Palatine. According to the Daily Herald, the youth hockey development program plans to combine two empty spaces for the nearly 3,500 square-foot facility at 904-908 E. Northwest Highway. On Tuesday, the Palatine village council approved a special use permit for the facility project, the news report added.

Windy City Storm, open to players ages 10 to 18, launched in June at Orbit Ice Arena, 615 S. Consumers Avenue, after the program's original March launch date was postponed due to the coronavirus, Windy City Storm President and Co-owner Mark Jalcovik told the Daily Herald. Majority owner of the program, David Vennetti, also owns and runs Orbit Ice Arena, according to Jalcovik. He told the news source he expects the new facility to open in 30 to 60 days.
