PALATINE, IL — Palatine police arrested two Northbrook women Thursday who are accused of burglary at a Palatine home. According to a news release from the Palatine Police Department, Olga Torres-Rojass, 44, and Fanny Herrera-Torres, 27, both from the 4000 block of Evergreen Lane in Northbrook, are each facing one count of felony residential burglary, stemming from accusations they stole and pawned jewelry from a Palatine woman's home.

According to the news release, a woman from the 200 block of W. Prestwick Street in Palatine told police on Nov. 21 that she noticed that some of her gold jewelry and other personal items were missing from her home. According to police, the woman claimed she hired Herrera-Torres to clean her home in 2018, and learned in September 2020 that another local police department had arrested Herrera-Torres on accusations of residential burglary. The woman also found out through acquaintances who also employed Herrera-Torres that they were missing personal property as well, according to police.

The victim confronted Herrera-Torres about her missing property, and according to police, said that Herrera-Torres told her it was possible one of her employees — who helps her clean homes — might have taken the victim's items.
