D'Amico Meets with Students From St. John Brebeuf School During Visit to the Capitol

In order to ensure he stays connected to the youth in his community, state Rep. John D’Amico, D-Chicago, met with students on their 8th grade class trip visiting Springfield for the day.
“Session can be a very busy time for legislators, but meeting with these students to discuss how I represent them is one of the many privileges that come with my responsibilities serving the district,” D’Amico said. “I hope the students enjoyed their time learning about their state’s capital on the 150th commemoration of Lincoln’s death.”

D’Amico spoke to the class about his work implementing the graduated driver’s license program, so teen drivers, like themselves one day, will learn safe driving practices in receiving their license. He also discussed his work to ban cellphone use on the road to help keep drivers from being distracted. After meeting with D’Amico, the students took a tour of the Illinois State Treasurer’s vault, and some students were able to meet Secretary of State Jesse White in his office.
