This release will be updated with autopsy findings following organ donation.

According to the American Academy of of Neurologists (AAN), brain death results from irreversible loss of function of the entire brain. The Uniform Determination of Death Act of 1981 held that brain death and circulatory (heart) death are equivalent, and the AAN acknowledges this equivalence. This is to inform that there is either brain death or heart death; not one and the other. The outcome would be one or the other with an equivalent result.
