Traffic Changes Ahead On Western Avenue In Peoria

Traffic changes are ahead next week along Western Avenue on Peoria’s south side. The northbound right lane of Western Avenue from West Malone Street to West Lincoln Avenue will be closed beginning Monday, March 1 at 7 a.m. The closure is necessary for crews to begin relocating utilities in preparation for the upcoming Western Avenue reconstruction project.

Expect Minor Delays
Area drivers may encounter brief traffic interruptions while the work is underway. Drivers are asked to take it slow and use extreme caution when traveling through the work zone. The closure will be in place for around one month.

What’s Happening on Western?
The Western Avenue Community Investment Plan (CIP) project will span from Adams Street to Lincoln Avenue and will include “complete streets” concepts and construction of green infrastructure to control combined sewer overflows (CSOs).
