The work should be complete by the end of the day Wednesday.
PEORIA – March 22, 2020 – Electricians with the Peoria Public Works Department will upgrade the traffic signal cabinet at the intersection of Knoxville Avenue at Giles Lane on Wednesday, March 24, weather permitting.
The work will entail replacing an older traffic signal cabinet with an updated model. The change will be happening on the southeast corner of the intersection. During that time the intersection will transition to an all-stop condition, enforced with stop signs.

Safer for All
The traffic signal cabinet upgrade will allow the Department to improve pedestrian safety for the Rock Island Greenway at this intersection. The southbound right turn lane traffic signal will be changed from a round, green ball light to a flashing yellow arrow. The flashing yellow arrow should improve the intersection’s pedestrian and bicycle crossing by promoting caution for right turning vehicles.
Drivers are encouraged to exercise caution while the work is in progress. The work should be complete by the end of the day Wednesday.
