4th Of July Fireworks 2021 Canceled In Plainfield
Plainfield's traditional Fourth of July events may be canceled, but there are several other ways you can celebrate Independence Day.
PLAINFIELD, IL — Although coronavirus cases continue to drop across the country while the number of those who are fully vaccinated continues to rise, many Independence Day celebrations have once again been canceled, modified or will be held virtually due to the pandemic.
Plainfield’s Patriotic Picnic and Fireworks hosted by the park district may have been canceled, but neighboring villages are holding their own shows.
- Romeoville will shoot off three simultaneous firework shows around 9:30 p.m. July 3. The three locations where they'll be taking place are Discovery Park, at 300 S. Highpoint Drive; Volunteer Park, at 1100 Murphy Drive; and Lukancic Middle School, at 725 Normantown Road.
- Bolingbrook is hosting a firework show July 4 at the Bolingbrook Golf Club, 2001 Rodeo Drive. The fireworks are set to go off at dusk, and DJ entertainment will happen from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m.
- Oswego's annual firework show is taking place at Prairie Point Park, 4120 Plainfield Road, and is set to go off at dusk July 4. Should the event get rained out, the village scheduled a rain date for July 5.
