65 Seat Belt Tickets, 4 Arrests In Plainfield July 4 Campaign
In its recent 4th of July Click It or Ticket campaign, Plainfield police also issued 43 other citations and arrested 4 people.
PLAINFIELD, IL — Plainfield police officers joined more than 200 local agencies in the Fourth of July week's Click It or Ticket campaign. This holiday weekend, it issued 65 seat belt citations, the department said Tuesday.
Around some holiday weekends, including Memorial Day and Independence Day, police departments promote seat belt usage in Click It or Ticket campaigns. For Memorial Day, police issued 104 seat belt citations, almost twice the amount from the recent campaign, which lasted from June 17 through July 6.
Those who didn't buckle up weren't the only ones ticketed. Among them were five citations for child passenger safety act violations and 25 for speeding, along with 13 other unspecified citations.

Police also made a driver's license-related arrest, and three people were arrested for possession of open cannabis in a car, according to the department.
The enforcement period was funded by the Illinois Department of Transportation as part of a statewide Click It or Ticket campaign.
