PLAINFIELD, IL — A Plainfield eatery reportedly closed its doors last month, and other restaurants also owned by Sonas Hospitality have also shuttered. Nevin's Brewing Co., which opened in late 2012 on Route 59, reportedly closed for good last month, and Pete Miller's — part of the same chain — is closed after 25 years in Evanston.

The Kerry Piper in Willowbrook, which is also owned by Sonas, will remain open, according to Eater Chicago.

Nevin's opened in Plainfield in 2012, taking over the site previously occupied by Limestone Brewing. The business enjoyed success as a music venue and award-wining brewery, although the brewery changed its name to Midnight Pig in 2017.

But the chain also battled turmoil, including a foreclosure lawsuit involving the Naperville and Evanston Tommy Nevin's Pub locations. The suit was settled in 2013 when an ownership group refinanced the pubs with loans totaling $5.5 million. The Plainfield location was not part of the foreclosure suit.

In 2016, the Plainfield Nevin's faced controversy in 2016 when a patron died after collapsing during a concert at the venue.
