Chicago's Favorite Rainbow Cone Comes To Plainfield
The "happy place on wheels" food truck, serving the Original Rainbow Cone, will be parked at Baird & Warner on Route 59 this weekend.

PLAINFIELD, IL — Plainfielders, you're lucky this weekend. Chicago's famous Original Rainbow Cone will be available for purchase Friday through Sunday at The Original Rainbow Cone food truck, parked at Baird & Warner on Route 59.
The "happy place on wheels" makes its rounds throughout the city and its surrounding suburbs, and Plainfield is among the places the truck will be parked. Its operating hours, at 11914 S. Route 59, are from 4 p.m. to 10 p.m. Friday and 1 p.m. to 10 p.m. Saturday and Sunday.
The iconic ice creamery's long-standing shop originally opened 95 years ago in Chicago's Beverly neighborhood, and just a few months ago, the first suburban location opened in Lombard. But if ice cream lovers can't make it to a brick-and-mortar, the truck makes it easier.

The rainbow cone's five flavors — stacked orange sherbet, pistachio, palmer house, strawberry and chocolate — are sliced, not scooped, into a cone or cup. The treat has been a staple since 1926.
Only credit cards are accepted at the truck and hours can vary dependent on extreme weather.
