PLAINFIELD, IL — A serious crash with injuries prompted road closures in the area of Lockport Street and Route 59 just before 9 a.m. Tuesday. "Several roads/intersections have been blocked off," police said.
Plainfield Fire Chief Jon Stratton said that the incident was a "two-car accident" and that at least one person involved had sustained non-life threatening injuries. The injured person was taken to nearby Edward Emergency Department on 127th Street after first responders assessed their condition. No fatalities were reported.
Plainfield police asked drivers to avoid the area. As of 9:35 a.m., Stratton said that crews were working to clear the area and would be finished "probably in about a half hour."
