Downtown Infrastructure Work Nears Final Stretch

PLAINFIELD, IL — Infrastructure work in the Downtown Village Green area is nearing its final stretch, as work moves to the area near Ottawa Street and Illinois Street. The intersection of those streets closed for the work Friday and will open by end of day Tuesday, according to the village.

Construction crews have been working to replace underground utilities in the Village Green area, bounded by Fox River Drive, Commercial Street, Ottawa Street, Chicago Street, Des Plaines Street and Illinois Street. Work is being done on water main replacement, sanitary sewer main replacement and new storm sewers, among other work, according to the village.

Drainage work at the intersection of Des Plaines and Ottawa streets has wrapped up. Work has moved on to the area of Ottawa and Illinois streets, causing the closure of the intersection and some lane closures.

On street parking restrictions will be in place and will be posted to the area effected. Work on the utility improvements is scheduled to be completed by Nov. 22, according to the village.
