Filing Begins In Plainfield Village Trustee Elections

Submit your petition by Dec. 17 if you want to run. Check back later this week and we'll let you know who your candidates are.

PLAINFIELD, IL — Three Village of Plainfield Trustee positions are up for election on April 2, and Monday, Dec. 10, is the first day to file if you're interested in running. The Village Clerk will accept petitions until Dec. 17 at 5 p.m.

Petitions can be picked up at the Plainfield Village Hall, 24401 W. Lockport St., in the Village Clerk's office between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m.

Three trustee spots will be up for election, each carrying a four-year term. The spots are currently held by longtime trustee Bill Lamb, Ed O'Rourke and Brian Wojowski. In order to run in the upcoming consolidated election, you must have lived in the municipality for at least a year prior to the last election. Candidates must also file a statement of candidacy and submit a number of signatures between 5 and 8 percent of the number of people who voted in the last regular election. (That number was 4,197, by the way.)

Candidates must file statements of economic interest with the Will County Clerk (302 N. Chicago Street, Joliet, IL 60432) before Dec. 17 and campaign finance disclosure must also be filed with the state board of elections and the county clerk.
