Four-Vehicle Crash Caused By Fallen Tree Due To Severe Storm
A Ford traveling south on Dalhart Avenue had stopped because of a tree on the road, when it was struck by three other cars from the back.
ROMEOVILLE, IL — A tree, knocked down by the severe storms that tore through the area Monday, caused a four-vehicle crash in Romeoville, police said.
Tornado warnings were issued for much of the Chicago area, with wind gusts of 80 mph, hail the size of a quarter and downed trees and power lines were reported as the severe weather passed through northern Illinois Monday.
Deputy Chief Brant Hromadka said the accident occurred at 3 :44 p.m. on southbound Dalhart Avenue, approximately 15 feet south of Beacon Avenue. A Ford was traveling south on Dalhart when it stopped for a tree on the road.

A Buick stopped behind the Ford, when a Nissan struck the Buick, forcing it into the back of the Ford, he said. A Mitsubishi then crashed into the Nissan, causing additional damages.
Hromadka said the officers are still investigating the incident and no charges have been made at this time. The Romeoville Fire Department responded to the scene but no injuries have been reported.
