Updated: Frank's Night Out in Plainfield Closes, but Manager Vows to Return

An announcement of the closing was made in a Facebook post on Friday.

A posting on the Frank's Night Out Facebook page at around noon on Friday stated that the Plainfield restaurant is now closed. Manager Marcus Mooney said the ownership of the shopping center where Frank's is located is changing hands, and his establishment was not able to come to terms with the new lease.

"We love Plainfield, it really hurts to close the restaurant. It’s one of the most emotionally things I’ve done," Mooney said in a phone interview on Friday.

As of 3 p.m. on Friday, there were just over 160 comments on the post that announced the closing. Most expressed sadness over the closing of the restaurant.

"It’s really something to see the lives lives we touched. It’s part of the inspiration to continue on," Mooney said.

Frank's Night Out, which had been in business since late 2012, was located in the North Plainfield Crossing shopping center on Route 59. Mooney said the off-street location made the restaurant hard to see for passing motorists.

"I’d love to see a drive through," Mooney said when talking about future locations where the restaurant could reopen.

Mooney said the Frank's Night Out food trailer will be operational at Plainfieldfest and other festivals this summer.

“We’re gone right now, but it’s not for good,” Mooney said.
