Jewel, Whole Foods, Mariano's: Thanksgiving Grocery Store Hours

Here's what's open and when on Thanksgiving.

ILLINOIS — We all know the feeling. It's Thanksgiving morning. You've spent days preparing and making lists for your family's Thanksgiving feast, only to realize: You forgot the cranberry sauce. But don't panic. Plenty of grocery stores will be open across Illinois for your last-minute shopping needs.

This year, Thanksgiving falls on Thursday, Nov. 28.

Here are the hours for grocery stores that will be open on Thanksgiving, along with a list of those that won't:

  • Jewel-Osco: In recent years, Jewel-Osco stores (including 24-hour locations) have closed at 4 p.m. Thanksgiving. Pharmacies are also closed.
  • The Fresh Market: Open from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m.
  • Pete's Fresh Market: Open but hours vary by location.
  • Target: For the second year in a row, Target stores will open at 5 p.m. Thanksgiving Day. Stores close at 1 a.m. and reopen at 7 a.m. Friday.
  • Mariano's: Stores are open until 5 p.m. Pharmacies are closed.
  • Meijer: Open 24 hours; special Thanksgiving and Black Friday deals start at 6 a.m. each day.
  • Walmart: Open usual hours for grocery shoppers on Thanksgiving (hours vary by store). Black Friday deals start at 10 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 27 online and 6 p.m. Thanksgiving in store.
  • Whole Foods: Hours vary by store. Most suburban locations are open from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m., although some open at 7 a.m. Wheaton location open until 4 p.m.

If you're looking for some beverages to go with your Thanksgiving feast, Binny's Beverage Depot locations are open from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.
