Katie O'Connors, Plainfield Fire Department Host Second Rib Cook-Off
Proceeds benefit burn camp.

Katie O’Connor’s Pint House and Eatery, 13717 W. Route 30, will team with the Plainfield Fire Protection District to host a rib cook-off from noon to 5 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 7.
The event benefits the Illinois Fire Safety Alliance’s Camp I Am Me, which serves children who have experienced burn injuries.
This year, contest entries will be judged by local celebrities Mayor Mike Collins, Deputy Fire Chief Jon Stratton and Plainfield School Board secretary Greg Nichols.

Entry fee for contestants is $40, which includes two full slabs of ribs for judging and sampling, draft beer and ribs, pasta and potato salad, mac and cheese, corn on the cob, baked beans, live music, bean bags and more. Rib pickup starts on Thursday, Sept. 4. Katie O’Connor’s provides grills, charcoal and serving trays.
Prizes will be awarded for first, second and third place, and the event will include 50/50 raffles and a variety of other prizes and giveaways from area businesses.

The event is open to non-grillers, too. The fee is $25 in advance and $30 at the door.
