Lisa Stebic House Put Up for Sale

Nine years after the Plainfield woman's disappearance, her husband Craig Stebic is selling the family home at a discount.

Plainfield, IL — Lisa Stebic disappeared from her Plainfield home — and the lives of those who love her — nine years ago. She was divorcing her husband of 14 years, and legal papers had just been served to compel Craig Stebic to leave the family home in the Nature's Crossing subdivision.

Lisa left that house on April 30, 2007, supposedly to work out at a local gym, and she was never seen again.

Now, Craig Stebic has put the Red Star Drive house up for sale.

Listed for $259,900, the four-bedroom, three-and-a-half bath, 2,300-square-foot home is priced below nearby homes, some which are selling at $350,000 to $450,000. After filing for divorce in December 2006, the Stebics continued to live here together but rarely spoke to each other.

Divorce papers claimed Craig Stebic was "unnecessarily relentless, cruel, inconsiderate, domineering and verbally abusive." Her friends said he frequently called her names and demeaned her in public.

This is the home where the Stebics raised their young son and daughter, the home Craig Stebic ordered his wife's family to stay away from after she was gone. Built in 1999, the house features a two-car garage, a den and an in-ground pool.

Craig Stebic — who remains a person of interest to police — told investigators he was working in the yard the night of Lisa's disappearance. He insists she left on her own or was kidnapped.

A few months after she she went missing, in June 2007, the house and that in-ground pool were at the center of a media controversy as reporter Amy Jacobson, clad in a swimsuit, was seen at a Stebic pool party with her children at the same time she was covering the Stebic story for NBC 5. By that time, Lisa's family had publicly suggested Craig had gotten rid of his wife. CBS 2 aired footage of the pool party, which cost Jacobson her job.

Lisa Stebic was 37 when she went missing.

Now, someone else gets a chance to live in her house. Listed by Coldwell Banker, the property went up on June 26.
