Longtime Plainfield Librarian, Kathy Boreham, Dies At 71

"Kathy is tremendously missed," the Plainfield Public Library said Thursday.

PLAINFIELD, IL — Kathy Boreham, who worked at the Plainfield Public Library for three decades until retiring in 2013, has died. She was 71.

Officials said Boreham served in a multitude of positions, including at the public service desk and, most recently, behind the scenes as head of technical services.

"Kathy saw this community and library through many changes while Plainfield grew," the library posted on Facebook Thursday. "She served as our 'institutional memory,' sharing many stories of how things were in the 80s and 90s. Kathy is tremendously missed."

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Tuesday, Jan. 22, at 10:30 a.m. at St. Mary Immaculate Parish in Plainfield, according to an obituary. Internment will be private, and the Boreham family ask for donations to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital in lieu of flowers.
