PLAINFIELD, IL — Moe Joe's is reopening its doors Monday after being temporarily shuttered due to an employee testing positive for the coronavirus. The restaurant announced in a social media post Friday that it will ensure the health and safety of the staff, as well as the community, and take precautionary measures after consulting the Will County Health Department.
"Currently we have a professional deep cleaning service working on the entire premises. We will miss you, but more importantly, we want to ensure enough time to feel our Moe Joe's family is healthy & safe to serve your beloved families," the Facebook post said.

When the global coronavirus pandemic had forced businesses to suspend dine-in services across the state, more than half the employees at this popular Plainfield eatery had to leave their jobs.
In order to help them financially, the restaurant hosted an event in May, and all the proceeds was distributed among the 60 workers, excluding management staff.

Restaurants across the area are reporting positive COVID-19 cases among its staff and are closing. However, some have not taken the same measures. According to an employee of a Plainfield restaurant who wishes to remain anonymous, workers where she works "are not wearing masks/gloves in the kitchen, wiping down condiments, menus, etc."
"I took it upon myself, not directed by management to get tested and quarantine. Other employees tested but did not quarantine. I have not gone back to work," she said.
She even informed the Will County Health Department regrading this.
"For the sake of public safety - whenever you choose to dine out - wipe everything down yourself and wear your mask," she said.
Will County could soon see restrictions on public gatherings once again as Will County is now at a warning level — also knows as the orange level — for the coronavirus, with COVID-19 numbers heading in the wrong direction.

The IDPH website reports 92 cases per 100,000 residents, after a rate of 71 cases per 100,000 residents the previous week. The target for this is less than 50. The number of deaths is currently 7, which has been reported for 7 days, increasing by more than 20 percent for 2 consecutive weeks.
