New Daycare, Boarding Facility Treats Dogs Like Family Members

Pound Town, Inc. has opened its doors despite the COVID-19 crisis, providing daycare and boarding services to 50-60 dogs at any given time.

PLAINFIELD, IL — Plainfield resident Terri Crotty has dedicated her life to animal welfare, and now she is offering daycare and boarding services for the village's furry inhabitants with her new establishment.

Nestled within the Plainfield Pet Supply building, the newly-opened Pound Town, Inc. has a team of dedicated workers who go above and beyond to ensure the dogs have a comfortable experience while their families are away.

"We have trained professionals, eagerly waiting to take care of your loved ones, whenever the need arises. Whether it’s for a day or a week, you can rest assured, you will be leaving them in excellent hands," Crotty said. "Our dedicated team is committed to providing loving care for your furry babies, so you can relax and enjoy your time away from them. You will sleep easy, knowing your pets are being taken care of by the very best."

Crotty had been volunteering at various animal rescues before deciding "I could make a bigger impact in the lives of the animals by having more control of the sick and injured animals we help," she said.

She started Wags 2 Wishes Animal Rescue in 2013, with a mission to rescue abused, sick, abandoned and forgotten animals facing euthanasia due to overcrowding or intense medical conditions that the owners cannot handle.

"We provide a loving and secure transition into our rescue program. While our medical and neglect cases enter our foster home program, many of the animals we take in can enter our rescue facility and find their loving forever home in just a short time," Crotty said. "On average we rescue about 450-500 animals per year."

Pound Town, Inc. can accommodate 50-60 dogs at any given time and all of them must have taken all their vaccinations, as well as tested negative on a fecal test no earlier than 14 days prior to entering the facility. Owners will have 24/7 access to their fur babies via a camera.

Crotty said she has always wanted to open a daycare and when she was afforded that opportunity, she jumped at it, pandemic-induced financial uncertainties notwithstanding.

"While we all know during a COVID-19 pandemic is not the best time to open a new business, our plan to open was set in place months prior to the outbreak/quarantine, we had no choice but to forge ahead and keep the dream alive," she said.

People can now avail her services and register their pets online. A complete list of boarding and daycare options along with the costs associated with each can be found on the website.

"In today's world pets are our children. Pound Town, Inc. is fully transparent, allowing camera viewing and regular daily updates while our clients' pets are staying with us, is a major plus for current and future clients," Crotty said. "We are confident once the COVID-19 crisis is behind us and life is back to normal, we will have a full house every day. What sets us apart is that we don't just treat pets like family, we treat them like they're our family."
