Age 65, passed away Tuesday, June 15, 2021, at her late residence. Debra was born in Streator, Illinois. She was the daughter of Vernon Hozie and Geraldine Hux. Debra, formerly of Seneca, has resided in Morris for the past five years. She is a graduate of Streator High School class of 1974 and received her Bachelor’s degree in Business and Administration from Almeda College and University. Debra retired from Horizons Youth Services as the Director of Finance and Administration on May 31, 2021, following 15 years of service. Prior to Debra's illness, she was heavily involved at Peace Lutheran Church in Morris. She served on the church council, the choir, and Handbell Director. She is an avid lover of music with a special interest in the piano and organ.
Surviving are five children, Amy (Rob) Reynolds of Tennessee, Kelly (Joe) Wiermanski of Illinois, Jason (Kristen) Robinson of Iowa, Ryan (Taylor) Hopkins of Iowa and Ashley (Kevin) Clausen of Illinois; eight grandchildren, Vicki, Korah, Josie, Jacob, Knox, Titus, Everly, Kohen, and one great-granddaughter, Alice; her mother, Geri (late James) Hux of Illinois; one sister, Pam (Tom) Craig of Illinois; two nieces, Becky Coons and Jill Knudson and her boyfriend, Terry Hrasch.

Debra was preceded by her father, Vernon Hozie (2001), and her brother, Jeffrey in infancy.
A Celebration of Debra's life will be held Sunday, June 27, 2021, at Let's Party, 802 Liberty St., Morris, IL 60450 from 1-4 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorials in her name to Peace Lutheran Church - Handbell Choir, 101 Candlelight Lane Morris, IL 60450, Northwestern Memorial Hospital giving.nm.org/debrahopkins or Awaken Love Africa www.awakenlove.org.uk/donate/
