Age 75, of Crest Hill, IL passed away peacefully early Saturday morning June 5, 2021, at Lightways Hospice Home.

Mae was born November 2, 1945, in Mt. Vernon, IL, and as a young lady moved to the Joliet area settling in Rockdale where she was raised.

She is the beloved wife of 56 years to Charles H. Newland; loving mother of Richard (Belinda) Newland and Robert Newland; devoted grandmother of Cody and Shane Newland. Also surviving are two sisters, Joyce (Bill) Martin and Beverly Scott; one brother, Orland (Arlene) Scott and many nieces and nephews.

Preceded in death by her mother, Nellie (Mike) Gollick, and father Homer Scott as well as her siblings.

Mae retired from Target in 2010 after 15 years of dedicated service. She worked in retail most of her adult life and was a fan of Elvis Presley.

She will be remembered fondly as a wonderful wife and mother who we all admire for her strength, grace, and courage while battling cancer these past 12 years.

As it was Mae’s wish cremation rites will be accorded. A Memorial Service will be held at a later date.

In lieu of flowers memorials in her name can be made to Lightways Hospice (formerly Joliet Area Community Hospice).
