Obituary: Mary H. Hoppe

Mary was a former employee of Crisis Line and enjoyed volunteering at the Cantigny VFW Post.

Mary Helen Hoppe, age 84, of Crest Hill, passed away peacefully, Monday, May 31, 2021 at Lightways Hospice.

Born September 19, 1936 in Muskegon, MI, she was the daughter of the late Ray and Marie (Pass) Ehr.

Mary worked in retail for several companies and also worked as an Administrative Assistant for Crisis Line for several years.

Mary was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother who will be remembered for her kindness and graciousness. She never had a cross word to say about anyone. She was also devoted to her Catholic faith. Mary enjoyed volunteering at the Cantigny VFW Post and their mostaccioli dinners.

She is survived by her beloved husband, Alquin "Al" Hoppe; one son, Timothy L. Dodd I of Park Ridge; two grandsons, James “Jim” (Melissa) Dodd, Jr. of Genoa and Timothy L. Dodd II of Valparaiso, IN; three great-grandchildren; two step-daughters, Stephanie Burke of Naperville, and Rebecca McCord of Calhan, CO; and two brothers, Mike Ehr in Michigan and Tom Ehr in Florida.

She is preceded in death by her son, James Dodd, Sr.; and a step-son, Dan Hoppe.

Cremation rites have been accorded and funeral services for Mary will be held Tuesday, June 8, 2021 at 12:30 p.m., at Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery.
