Ottawa Street Pool Reopening In May After Being Closed For 2020

The pandemic suspended the 2020 swim season, but the pool will open for the 2021 season.

PLAINFIELD, IL — A year after the pandemic shut down the 2020 swim season, the Plainfield Park District announced that the Ottawa Street Pool, 23820 W. Ottawa St., will open for the 2021 season on May 29. But due to state COVID-19 safety guidelines, only park district members will be admitted to the pool, and guests must make reservations online in advance.

Pass holders will receive privileges including three-day advance online registration for two-hour swim lessons. Those who don't have passes can register two days in advance.

Face coverings are required at all times except for when patrons are swimming or sitting in their deck chairs.

Pool hours are from noon to 2 p.m. and 2:30 to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday. On weekends, hours are from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., 1:30 to 3:30 p.m. an 4 to 6 p.m.

Swim lessons will begin the first week of June and run through August. Online registration forms can be found on the park district website.
