Paper Necessities Drive for Homeless Veterans
Plainfield American Legion Family and Operation Welcome You Home (OWYH) Host Donation Drive for Homeless Veterans
During the month of February, two local veteran organizations have joined hands to collect necessary items for veterans residing at Hope Manor in Joliet. Hope Manor is a supportive housing development for veterans and families. In addition to housing, supportive services related to unemployment, mental health challenges and homelessness are provided. Although the veterans are eligible for our state Supplement Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP), paper products are not covered under SNAP. This includes many essential items such as toilet paper, paper towels, feminine hygiene products, tissue paper and disinfecting wipes. We invite the community to help by dropping off items at the American Legion during business hours, at the corner of Renwick and River Roads, through the month of February. Also, we will have a drive by drop off on Saturday, February 27th, from 9am till Noon. We hope you will join us in serving our veteran community. For questions, please call the American Legion Post at 815-436-9231.
