Plainfield Fire Chief David Riddle To Retire

Riddle started as Plainfield's deputy fire chief in 2012, becoming fire chief in 2014. He has been a firefighter more than four decades.

PLAINFIELD, IL — Plainfield Fire Chief David Riddle is retiring after seven years of service with the Plainfield Fire Protection District, officials said Monday.

"We would like to thank Chief David Riddle for his years of service to the Plainfield Fire Protection District and for all he did for the Police Department, PEMA and the entire Village of Plainfield," the Plainfield Police Department wrote on Facebook. "Thank you for your dedication and congratulations on your retirement."

Riddle joined the Plainfield Fire Protection District in 2012 to oversee the department's administrative functions, including personnel, hiring, emergency management services and fire inspections. He previously served for 12 years as Channahon's first full-time fire chief. Before that, he served 22 years in his hometown of Harvey, staring as a firefighter and leaving as fire chief.

Riddle was promoted to Plainfield's fire chief in 2014, after the retirement of Chief John Eichelberger.
