PLAINFIELD, IL — Plainfield is forecast to have a chilly — and perhaps snowy — Halloween night. Weather forecasts for Thursday call for high temperatures in the 40's, with plenty of chances for precipitation.
Thursday's forecasted high temperature in Plainfield is 41 degrees, according to the National Weather Service's extended forecast. During the day, the chance of precipitation is 80 percent.
The nighttime low temperature is expected to be 25 degrees, with rain and snow "likely," according to the National Weather Service, or NWS. It will be a mostly cloudy night, with the chance of precipitation is 60 percent, which would become all snow starting at about 9 p.m. (Patch checked the NWS's forecasts on Monday night.)

That means that local trick-or-treaters could miss the snow. Plainfield's trick-or-treat hours run from 4-8 p.m. Thursday. But that doesn't mean that local kids will miss the rain, or the cold temperatures.
Stronger storm systems are expected to roll into Northwest Illinois on Monday, but the NWS said on Monday that the storm's track remains "very uncertain." Rain is expected virtually every day this week, with a mix of rain and snow likely through the area both Thursday and Friday.
