Plainfield Hometown Irish Parade Slated For March 10
Officials are still taking nominations for Irish Princess. Find out how to nominate someone here.

PLAINFIELD, IL — Plainfield's 17th annual Irish Parade will be held Sunday, March 10, beginning at 1 p.m. Starting from the Plainfield High School Central Campus, the parade will follow an approximately 1-mile route north on James Street, east on Lockport, south on Illinois Street, and, finally, west on Commercial Street.
Officials say they expect about 80 groups to participate and that the parade will last about an hour and 15 minutes. The Plainfield Police Department estimates about 7,500 people will come out to view the parade, based on last year's attendance.
Last year, the Village closed Des Plaines Street south of Lockport to Chicago Street at 5 a.m. on the day of the parade. It remained closed until 6 p.m. for St. Patrick's Day activities, and that will likely be the case again this year. We'll have a full list of road closures closer to the day of the parade.

The parade is still looking for nominations for the 2019 Irish Parade Princess. Last year's winner was Plainfield North sophomore Grace Schlueter, who had been performing Irish dance for seven years. The deadline is Feb. 25, so if wearing the Shamrock Crown seems up your alley, then click here to fill out the online form.
The parade is also still looking for sponsors, volunteers and food trucks, so email info@plainfieldirishparade.org if you're interested.
