Plainfield Kidnapping: 27-Year-Old Man Arrested, Charges Released
Kenneth Battle is charged with three felonies after police say he kidnapped his 5-year-old son on May 31.

PLAINFIELD, IL — Police have released the name of a man charged in connection with the abduction of his 5-year-old son in Plainfield. Kenneth R. Battle Jr., 27, was arrested May 31 and faces three felony charges.
Kendall County jail records show he was booked three days after his arrest and was released June 4.
Plainfield police listed a Rosemont address for Battle, while the Kendall County jail records list a Plainfield address.

Battle is charged with two counts of aggravated unlawful restraint and one count of child abduction, according to Kendall County court records. His next court date is scheduled for July 14, and his bond was set at $4,500.
Police responded to a home in Plainfield just before 9 a.m. May 31 after Battle, who was previously wanted in a "domestic incident," was accused of kidnapping his biological son.

Police say Battle entered the home and took the boy without permission or legal authority, and told his ex-girlfriend he planned to harm himself and the boy. After leaving the home in a silver Saturn SUV, he fled the vehicle and left his uninjured son in the car.
Battle was arrested hours later after police issued an alert via social media and a witness spotted Battle and called 911.
Police said Battle was taken to an area hospital after police took him into custody.
