Plainfield Park District To Host Rock Painting Event
To celebrate Unplug Illinois Day July 10, anyone interested can turn off their electronics and paint rocks at Mather Park.

PLAINFIELD, IL — Society spends so much time staring at screens that there's July 10 has been dubbed "Unplug Illinois Day." To celebrate and "return to the stone age," as the Plainfield Park District puts it, a rock painting event will be hosted that Saturday at Mather Woods.
From 10 a.m. to noon, anyone interested in the event can spend a couple of hours with their electronics turned off — or at least out of sight — while they paint a rock with fun designs. Then, the park district encourages they can place their artwork at their favorite park for someone else to find.
Rocks and paint will be provided by the park district.

The free event, taking place at 25032 W. Renwick Road, promotes Unplug Illinois Day, which is a program by the Illinois Park and Recreation Association.
