Plainfield Park District To Host Spring Fishing Derby

Kids are invited to test their angling skills this weekend in a local fishing hotspot.

PLAINFIELD, IL — Children and teens are invited to dust off their fishing poles, grab some bait and head out to a local fishing derby this weekend. The Plainfield Park District is hosting its Spring Fishing Derby at the Van Horn Woods Pond Saturday, the district announced. The event will run from 9 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. at 17200 S. Frontage Rd. — rain or shine, officials said.

The derby will be divided into three age divisions: 3-5, 6-8 and 9-13, event organizers said. Participants will be entered into a raffle when they sign in, and awards will be given in each age division for the longest fish.

The district said all children must be accompanied by an adult. Tickets are $7 on site and $5 in advance.
