Plainfield Police Target Seat-Belt Enforcement

Police say there is zero tolerance for seat-belt violations May 10-28.

PLAINFIELD, IL—To promote safety as Memorial Day approaches, the Plainfield Police Department has announced it is teaming up with the Illinois Department of Transportation to crackdown on seat-belt enforcement. The Click It or Ticket campaign, which takes place May 10-28, is designed to remind motorists to use seat belts and car seats. Authorities said there is zero tolerance for seat-belt violations.

Nearly 95 percent of motorists use seat belts in the state of Illinois, data shows. Fatalities tend to occur more often than it does not in scenarios where people do not buckle up.

Authorities said they’ve noted seat-belt use tends to decrease for back-seat passengers and those driving at night. Seat belts have a history of saving lives. As such, all motorists and passengers are advised to wear their seat belts.
