Plainfield Village Board Passes Miniscule Tax Decrease

The move will result in a 50 cent reduction in the monthly water bill for Plainfield residents

The Plainview Village Board unanimously voted to reduce the monthly water and sewer capital improvement charge from $7.50 to $7, according to the Herald News.

Trustee Garrett Peck expressed his thought that the lower water bill charge would be more noticeable than a property tax decrease. The water bill reduction move saves residents $6 a year.

Trustee Ed O'Rourke supported the rate decrease, but expressed concern over the projected 4% average increase in assessed property values. “Fifty cents a month is not going to erase that 4 percent increase,” O'Rourke said.
