Plainfield's Upscale Coffee Bar Blu Is Now Irish Tyme Pub
Owners Mike and Cassie Vaughn celebrated the grand opening of this new eatery serving Irish fare and cocktails on Sept. 22.
PLAINFIELD, IL — A spot in downtown Plainfield had been occupied by Blu, an upscale coffee bar and lounge, since 2015. But this year, owners Mike and Cassie Vaughn decided to open a new restaurant in its place.
Irish Tyme Pub, located at 24027 W. Lockport St., opened its door with a grand opening event on Sept. 22. The eatery is nestled inside the historic Opera House building and boasts traditional Irish fare and cocktails. It also has two private parlors for events.
"Although we all loved Blu, we decided to bring a different concept for everyone to enjoy," the owners wrote in a Facebook post in June.

"Stopped by Irish Tyme Pub this evening. What a fantastic place!!! Great music and beer. Had the Irish Skillet appetizer. Well worth trying. Hoping this place does well. A really nice addition to Plainfield. Highly recommend checking out," a guest wrote on social media.
The owners also own HopScotch & Vine restaurant, as well as retail stores Simply Saucy, What's New, 3 Chic's Boutique and Opera House Steak & Seafood.
During its Aug. 3 meeting, the Plainfield Village Board unanimously voted to approve a request from the Vaughns to change their liquor license classification to a Class F Liquor License.
A Class F Liquor License authorizes the retail sale of all alcoholic liquor for consumption on the premises when the primary business is that of a restaurant. Blu had a Class A Liquor License which does not have a food requirement.
