Popular Plainfield Groomer Re-Opens Under New Leadership

PLAINFIELD, IL — After working at Best in Show Dog and Cat Grooming for three years, Plainfield resident Patty Dreyer decided to take over the business and “build it.” Renamed Glitz and Glamor, this pet grooming haven is once again accepting customers since May 1, as businesses are slowly re-opening in Illinois amid strict restrictions.

“This was a great opportunity for me and it has been absolutely crazy,” Dreyer said. “We are booked solid through the next two weeks.”

Apart from finding a new, unique name, Dreyer said she is not changing anything else about the establishment as a lot of her clients have been frequenting it for years and are satisfied with the services they receive. Her clients hail from several neighboring communities as well.

The store currently has three groomers at work who are following all precautions — wearing masks and gloves — when they go out and collect the pets from their owners.

Dreyer said she is preparing to launch a website and a Facebook page for the business, and is in the process of getting a sign made with the new name.

Glitz and Glamor opens at 9 a.m. Tuesday - Friday and at 8 a.m. on Saturday. Closing times vary depending on the number of dogs. For most services a prior appointment is required but nail trimmings can be done on spot depending on staff availability.

“We’re following all safety measures and trying to fit in as many clients as soon as we can,” Dreyer said. We're all in this together, and we'll take it one day at a time.”
