RE/MAX Agents Honored for Community Service, Giving Back

Phillip Lawrence, a Broker with RE/MAX Ultimate Professionals in Plainfield, recently received the Community Citizenship Award for the Northern Illinois Region of RE/MAX. The award is presented annually to an ambitious real estate professional who offers their time and commitment to the community and inspires others through their dedication and service.

Lawrence, a real-estate veteran, joined RE/MAX Ultimate Professionals in 2017. He is actively involved in the Plainfield Rotary Club, serving as incoming president. Through Rotary, Lawrence assists with several key initiatives throughout the year, including feeding nearly 200 families each Thanksgiving, providing Christmas for families in shelters, stocking the local food pantry and providing scholarships for high school students. Lawrence notes that the Rotary Club also provides birthday bags to the local food pantry, including cake mix, frosting and balloons.

"If you are in Plainfield, you can't go a block without hearing about Phillip Lawrence at RE/MAX Ultimate Professionals," said Kathy Dames, Broker/Owner of RE/MAX Ultimate Professionals. "Phillip is heavily involved in the community. You can find him at every Rotary Club event wearing his RE/MAX polo. Every Tuesday night in the summers, he is downtown Plainfield making popcorn for families in front of our office. When I think of Plainfield, I think of Phillip Lawrence."

A Plainfield resident since 1997, Lawrence also founded the website plainfieldproud.com to promote community events, news and opportunities. He is actively involved in the Chamber of Commerce as well.

"It truly an honor to receive the Community Citizenship Award," said Lawrence. "Throughout my career, I've always made a point to help anyone who needs it."

Giving back is engrained in the culture at RE/MAX Ultimate Professionals. Glenn Sharp, an agent at the Shorewood office of RE/MAX Ultimate Professionals, received the Above the Crowd award last year for his work supporting his client Linda Landrey, who lost everything when her home was struck by lightning and destroyed. The award is presented to an agent who not only works hard but genuinely cares about their clients.

After the devastating fire, Sharp hosted several fundraisers and reached out to the local business community to raise support for his client. He was also able to sell the lot Landrey's destroyed home occupied. By waiving all professional fees for the transaction and enlisting two local attorneys' help, he completed the sale at no cost to Landrey. Including the sale, more than $15,000 has been raised to date to support his client.

"Glenn is an amazing man who, without asking, jumped in to assist his client while taking little recognition. His client had nothing when her home was struck by lightning, and she realized no one paid the insurance," said Dames. "Glenn jumped into action, reaching out to his client’s daughter in Florida, securing the home, starting a Go Fund Me, talking to local newspapers and hosting fundraisers. His client was ultimately able to move to Florida and stated that Glenn saved her, and I believe he did. He never stops trying to help his clients even when there is no commission."
