River Flood Warning In Will County, Rainfall Totals

With more rain in the forecast, here's what's happening with local bodies of water as a flood warning takes effect.

PLAINFIELD, IL — A flood watch was in place for Will, Kendall, Grundy and other nearby counties until 3 p.m. Friday as rain continued and more possible storms were in the forecast. A flood warning was in place through 1 p.m.

The National Weather Service said residents can anticipate moderate to occasionally heavy rain with localized flooding throughout the area. Friday afternoon, storms producing "very heavy rainfall" could develop. There was also a 40 percent chance of showers Friday night.

If you encounter flooded roadways, don't try to drive through the water — it could be deeper than it appears. "Most flood deaths occur in vehicles," the NWS said. "Turn around, don't drown."
