Route 59 Part Of Will County Sheriff’s Office Safety Initiative

On Thursday, authorities plan on focusing on speeding, distracted driving, occupant restraint violations and other safety violations.

PLAINFIELD, IL—The Will County Sheriff’s Office wants to inform the public of its plans to join a national push to promote traffic safety. Thursday’s initiative is expected to focus on activity along the Route 59 corridor.

Authorities said they intend to use education and traffic enforcement to help maintain community engagement.

A number of police departments in northern Illinois are set to take part in the initiative. Those include:

  • Shorewood Police Department
  • Joliet Police Department
  • Wauconda Police Department

Each jurisdiction will implement their own enforcement action based upon the needs of their communities, officials said.

The Will County Sheriff’s Office asked that the public drive safely by using proper restraint, following the rules of the road and avoiding distraction.
