Search for Owls, Stars and Fun at Forest Preserve Programs

The following is a press release from the Forest Preserve District of Will County:

"BEECHER –Search for owls during the Forest Preserve District of Will County’s “Night Hike: Owls” program from 3:30-6 p.m. on Saturday Jan. 28, at Plum Creek Nature Center, 27064 S. Dutton Road. Hike in Goodenow Grove Nature Preserve with an interpreter then go inside to learn more about Will County owls as you warm up next to a fire. Dress for the weather and be prepared to walk 1.5 miles. Registration for this free, all-ages program is required by Jan. 20; call 708-946-2216.

CHANNAHON– “Nature Play Days” will be offered from 10-11:30 a.m. on Wednesdays Feb. 1 and March 1 at the Forest Preserve District of Will County’s Four Rivers Environmental Education Center, 25055 W. Walnut Lane, McKinley Woods. Parents with young children (ages 3-5) are invited to the free program. Activities can include hiking, stories, games, dancing and playing. Dress for indoor and outdoor activities. Registration for both children and adults is required by the Friday before each program; call 815-722-9470.

MONEE – Learn how to use a star chart to find fascinating objects in the cold clear skies of winter during “Astrono-Monee” programs offered from 7:30-9 p.m. on Wednesdays, Feb. 1 and March 8, at Monee Reservoir, 27341 Ridgeland Ave. The Forest Preserve District of Will County will provide telescopes and binoculars for viewing. The free program is for ages 8 and older. Registration is required two days in advance of each session; call 708-946-2216."
