Severe Weather, Flooding, Potential Stormy 4th Of July For IL
A thunderstorm watch and flood warning were in effect Sunday, along with a heat advisory.

A flood warning remained in effect for the Des Plaines and Fox rivers Sunday evening, with a severe thunderstorm watch until 8 p.m. and a heat advisory expiring at 7 p.m. Stormy weather could continue into the work week, according to the National Weather Service, with the potential for more storms on the 4th of July in the afternoon and evening.
Sunday's severe storm watch covered much of Illinois and northwest Indiana, with the potential for damaging winds of up to 60 mph and hail. Affected cities include Chicago, Aurora, Joliet, Naperville, Elgin, Waukegan, Cicero, Arlington Heights, Evanston, Schaumburg, Bolingbrook, Palatine, Skokie, Des Plaines, Orland Park, Tinley Park, Oak Lawn and Berwyn.
A flood warning continued for the Des Plaines River near Gurnee, Lincolnshire and Des Plaines, as well as the Fox River at Montgomery and Algonquin Tailwater.

Here's a look at the week ahead, according to the National Weather Service:
- Monday: Mostly sunny, with a high near 87. North northwest wind around 5 mph becoming east northeast in the afternoon.
- Monday night: Mostly clear, with a low around 64. East wind around 5 mph.
- Tuesday: A 20 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms after 2pm. Mostly sunny, with a high near 89. East northeast wind around 5 mph.
- Tuesday night: A 20 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms before 8pm. Partly cloudy, with a low around 73.
- 4th of July (Wednesday): A 40 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms, mainly after 2pm. Partly sunny, with a high near 89.
- Wednesday night: A chance of showers and thunderstorms before 8pm. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 73.
- Thursday: A chance of showers and thunderstorms after 8am. Partly sunny, with a high near 89.
- Thursday night: A chance of showers and thunderstorms, mainly before 8pm. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 72.
- Friday: A slight chance of showers and thunderstorms. Mostly sunny, with a high near 83.
