Plainfield's Electric Park had been closed for several days due to flooding.
PLAINFIELD, IL — After days of heavy rain, Plainfield firefighters made their second water rescue in three days on Monday. Officials said a man drove his sedan into a flooded Electric Park.
Fire Chief Jon Stratton said firefighters responded to Electric Park, 15200 S. Vista Lane, around 11:30 a.m. after getting a report of a vehicle in the water. Stratton said the park had been closed for several days due to flooding.
Crews maneuvered a pickup truck into Electric Park with a water rescue team and extricated the man from a black Chevy Prizm. Stratton said Battalion Chief Charles Kraft was able to navigate through the water to reach the man, and Lt. Andy Scott and Lt. Brandon Vainowski rescued the man from the vehicle.
