Winter Weather: Snow, 'Very Hazardous Travel,' Crashes In IL
The advisory is in effect for most of the Chicago area as winter holds on.
ILLINOIS — A winter weather advisory is in effect until 10 a.m. Wednesday for most of the Chicago area, including central, northern and southern Cook County; DuPage County; southern and eastern Will County; and Grundy, Kane, Kendall, Lake and McHenry counties.
The National Weather Service advised drivers to watch out for snow and slippery conditions on elevated surfaces, such as bridges, overpasses and ramps.
"Multiple significant accidents have occurred on area roadways," the weather service said early Wednesday, adding that conditions created "very hazardous travel." Illinois State Police were asking drivers to avoid travel Wednesday morning.
