Dog Attacks Officer During Owner's Arrest: Rockford Police
Rockford police said the officer was taken to the hospital with significant wounds from the attack.

ROCKFORD, IL — The Rockford Police Department said a dog was shot Tuesday morning when it attacked an officer during a warrant check at a home in the 500 block of Michigan Avenue. Police said when they arrived, 37-year-old Robert Eviston, of Rockford, tried to leave the home, leading to a struggle between him and the officers. After Eviston was taken into custody, police said that's when his dog attacked one of the officers, biting the officer multiple times on both arms and upper body.
Police said the dog died after it was shot. The injured officer was taken to a local hospital with significant but non-life-threatening wounds.
Eviston was also taken to the hospital for injuries he claimed happened during the arrest, where he assaulted a nurse, tried to run out of the hospital and fought with officers once again, according to police.
