Police Investigate Armed Robbery Attempt At Rockford KFC
Police report said suspect tried opening cash register after entering restaurant with kitchen knife.

ROCKFORD, IL — The Rockford Police Department said officers responded to an attempted armed robbery reported at the Kilburn Avenue Kentucky Fried Chicken (KFC) restaurant Monday evening. Rockford police said they were called to the restaurant at 6:19 p.m. where employees told officers an unknown black male entered and displayed a kitchen knife while demanding the employees open the cash register.
According to police, the employees wouldn't open the register, and the suspect was unsuccessful in his attempt to pry it open.
The employees were able to make the suspect leave the restaurant without taking any money, police said. The suspect was last seen headed northbound from the business on foot, but officers were unable to find him while searching the area, according to police.
