Rockford Man Charged With Murder In Fight-Turned-Stabbing

Police said investigation shows the victim and 46-year-old Jerry Saylor knew each other.

ROCKFORD, IL — A Rockford man has been arrested and charged with first degree murder in a fatal stabbing Sunday, Oct. 28 at a home in the 3500 block of Fawnridge Drive, the Rockford Police Department said. Police said a follow-up investigation led detectives to the suspect, 46-year-old Jerry Saylor, who was taken into custody Monday morning. Rockford police said officers were called to a report of a fight at the home, where they found a 61-year-old male residence suffering from stab wounds.

The victim, whose name isn't being released at this time, was pronounced dead at the scene, police said.

The Winnebago County State’s Attorney’s Office authorized a first degree murder charge against Saylor, as police said the investigation shows the murder doesn't appear to be random, adding the victim and Saylor knew each other.
