The Rockford School Board tonight approved the appointment of Morgan Gallagher to RPS 205 Chief of Schools. He will start the job July 1 and serve on Superintendent Ehren Jarrett’s cabinet and leadership team. Gallagher will supervise, coordinate and provide leadership efforts to improve student achievement, enhance school programs and develop school administrators. He will supervise RPS 205 principals, executive directors of schools and the director of athletics.

Gallagher was appointed Executive Principal of Adaptive Learning in March and has led Roosevelt Community Education Center since July 2016. At Roosevelt, Gallagher: 

Jarrett points to Gallagher’s successful track record with improving student achievement at Roosevelt as a model for success that can be replicated districtwide. “Morgan has an equally impressive track record of working with staff, students and families to collaborate and ensure all voices are included in the process of solving complex problems,” Jarrett said. “We are extremely excited to elevate him to this important leadership role.”

Gallagher is a doctoral candidate at Loyola University in Chicago in administration and supervision and has his superintendent endorsement with the Illinois State Board of Education.Prior to coming to RPS 205, he was an assistant principal and teacher in the Chicago Public Schools. He previous earned his law degree from Loyola University Chicago School of Law.  

“This is the opportunity of a lifetime,” Gallagher said, sharing his excitement to serve the Rockford community and its students in this expanded capacity. “Many of the successes we have achieved at Roosevelt can be realized at the broader district level. I am looking forward to leading principals toward the best outcomes for all RPS 205 students.”  

Deputy Superintendent Matt Vosberg announced plans earlier this month to leave RPS 205 for a superintendent job for the Bradley-Bourbonnais Community High School District 307.
