Rockford Woman Charged With Reckless Homicide In Fatal 2018 Crash

Rockford police said the investigation determined a car driven by 26-year-old Destiny Pendleton was also involved in the fatal 2018 crash.

ROCKFORD, IL — The Rockford Police Department said a Rockford woman is in custody facing several charges stemming from January 2018 crash that left a young woman dead. According to police, 26-year-old Destiny Pendleton was arrested as a result of an investigation following what authorities initially thought was a single-car accident involving another young woman just after 9:30 p.m., Jan. 30, at the intersection of Kishwaukee Street and Sandy Hollow road. Police said 24-year-old Jateyrrica Scott later died at a local hospital because of the injuries she sustained in the accident.

According to authorities, the Rockford Police Department’s Traffic Unit conducted a follow up investigation into the fatal crash and determined a second vehicle was involved, driven by Pendleton.

The Winnebago County State’s Attorney’s Office reviewed the case, approved charges of reckless homicide, aggravated DUI resulting in death and aggravated street racing against Pendleton, and a warrant was obtained for her arrest. She was taken to the Winnebago County Jail, police said.
