ROMEOVILLE, IL — Residents are in for a treat next weekend when a popular eatery brings its food truck into the village.

From 10 a.m.- 4 p.m. June 27, Auntie Anne's food truck will be parked in front of the Walmart on Weber Road. This is the first time Romeoville will get the chance to welcome these delicious baked items.

"We have had a lot of inquires and requests for us to come to this town, so we figured we would give it a shot and build a relationship with the community," said franchise owner Dakota Boulanger. "Our trailer is fully equipped with a kitchen, all food is made fresh right on the trailer, just like at our stores."

All the popular items such as fresh classic pretzels, cinnamon sugar, pepperoni, mini pretzel dogs, full size dogs and dips for the pretzels will be available. Boulanger said they will also kick off a new drink — the lemonade frost — that puts a great spin on a regular Auntie Anne's lemonade.

"We use our frozen lemonade and ice cream in it, top it off with whip cream, and then we drizzle syrup all over it, including strawberry, blue raspberry, mango, cherry and peach," he said.

Sanitation procedures such as thorough cleaning will be carried out every 30 minutes and customers are encouraged to wear masks. Cones will be placed outside to mark convenient spots for social distancing.

While most local businesses have suffered, Boulanger said the pandemic has yielded positive results for the food truck.

"We have been doing really good, in fact I think it increased our customers because people are still iffy about going to the malls and so fourth, so being able to get a nice treat without going inside a public place really helps us out," he said.

Boulanger said they are expecting "a huge response" from the Romeoville community.

" It’s such a great thing to have right now with everything that is going on, people love it," he said. "We have done many neighborhoods for moral boosters as well."
